The children have been focusing on building trusting relationships as we welcome many new teachers and tamariki who have transitioned from the Nest room and those who are new to Treetops.

Our tamariki have been doing extremely well despite the many new faces in our room. It has been an exciting journey that has also come with obstacles along the way.

Building trusting relationships plays a vital role in the learning and growth of our tamariki. It enables them to learn how to think, understand, communicate and express their emotions while developing their social skills. However, building relationships also comes with its challenges, as our tamariki are still very young. Many of their interactions are a learning experience for them to navigate.

There may be disagreements, but there is also lots of co-operation while we learn how to navigate various people’s differences. There may be altercations, but they will also makeup, give lots of cuddles and say “sorry” as we learn to communicate and express our emotions a little better.

Our tamariki are intelligent and capable little beings who are evolving in their own ways and at their own pace. Building relationships takes time, effort and a lot of hugs and forgiveness.

It is a significant part of our practice that we will continue to support, encourage and model in order for our tamariki to feel safe to explore, experiment and express themselves in an environment that allows them to grow and be a better version of themselves.
